Tofino - Adventures on the mystical and rugged coast
(spring to fall season)

From the moment you touch down at Tofino airport, all your cares are taken care of. You will be escorted to each experience by your private guide who will assure you of a seamless transition from one incredible adventure to another. On this magnificent coast we will share with you the legends and powerful history of the Tla o qui Aht

First Nation, through highly revered and knowledgeable guides, whose experience is legendary and whose families have been present in these traditional territories for over 10,000 years. You will have the opportunity to take an easy paddle in a hand carved First Nations cedar canoe, to one of the world's few remaining Old Growth rainforests. You will walk among 1000 year old trees while your guide from the Tla o qui Aht Nation shares with you their knowledge of edible plants, and of the interdependence of all forest life.

The great swells of the Pacific Ocean will be your playground as Ken Thomson, our private skipper takes you out to explore the coast, seeing migrating whales, soaring eagles, barking seals and resting sea lions. Then, in a sheltered bay, step out of the boat into a kayak, and be guided among small exquisite islands with seashell strewn beaches for an easy and wonderful paddle. Learn of the inter-tidal life as you take in the magnificent surroundings and enjoy mouthwatering delicacies on a deserted island. Return to Tofino through historic inlets and hear fantastic tales of the high seas regaled by your highly entertaining skipper. Relax at your luxurious accommodation, and then dine on a creation by our chefs, incorporating the catch of the day at a location chosen for its light and beauty. There's nothing like dining at sunset listening to the murmurs of the ocean.

Tofino enjoys a wonderful sub-species of black bears who often remain awake all winter, not hibernating in the high mountains.

Peaceful and very beautiful, black bears forage for food in the tidal inlets at low tide. You will be escorted on an inspiring bear watching trip by Kwa kwa ees, a world renowned First Nations carver and guide who will share with you the legends and history of these waters, resonant with the echoes of the great explorers. You will see bears only metres away, while you quietly tour the inter-tidal zones. Kwa kwa ees with then give you a private tour of his carving house, nestled in the coastal forest beside the ocean.

The waters off the west coast of Vancouver Island provide an enormous variety and abundance of fish and seafood to local and worldwide markets. On a covered private craft our skipper will take you to the outside waters where you will harvest the ocean for halibut or salmon. You will haul up Dungeness crab traps and shrimp nets and then head ashore where natural delicacies from the inter-tidal zone will be added to your ocean harvest dinner. Of course the choice is yours to join in the harvest at any time, or to simply luxuriate on deck where sheepskins, cosey blankets and pillows are provided for your comfort. Delicious gourmet snacks, fine wines and freshly squeezed juices will all be served during your ocean harvest day.
