Perfect for groups of 8 to 25

You will enter the traditional territory of the Coast Salish Nation as you walk by a glacier fed river with a native guide. The Elders will then formally greet you with a naming ceremony when you will be given your Coast Salish name and participate in a sacred dance and song of welcome.
Your group will be split into the five traditional family groups of Fishers and Hunters, Food Gatherers, Wool Weavers, Cedar Bark Workers and Wood Workers. Once in your groups you will learn the techniques and secrets of living from the land in the style of our First Peoples.

The experience begins as you learn ancient cooking practices incorporating heated stones and bentwood boxes, weaving with cedar bark taken from culturally modified trees, making stone-age tools and learning about the foods the forest and streams provide . You will be guided in the moss draped rainforest and learn about the abundance of the land around you and of the ways native peoples lived from the land.

Your day will end with a traditional salmon feast with wild salmon cooked over hot coals with nature all around you.

Should you choose the overnight experience, storytellers will enter the Longhouse after the salmon feast and share stories and legends with you from long ago in the mists of time.  Then, as the elders leave, slumber in your sleeping bag on a comfortable palette close to the fire.
